Roles in Nila

Roles and permissions control what people can manage and access in Nila.

Access is managed at two levels:

• Team roles — Member, Admin, and Super Admin determine what a person can manage within a team or organization.

• Project permissions — Editor, Commenter, and Viewer determine what a person can do within a specific project.

Team Roles  

Every person in a team is assigned a role based on the level of administrative access they need.

Member  

Members can create projects and pages and collaborate with others in the team.

Members can:

• Create projects and pages.

• Access projects shared with them.

• Work on projects based on their assigned project permissions.

• Collaborate with other team members.

Admin  

Admins can manage their team in addition to creating and working on projects.

Admins can:

• Create projects and pages.

• Manage team members.

• Manage team settings.

• Work on projects based on their assigned project permissions.

Super Admin  

Super Admins manage the organization and its teams.

Super Admins can:

• Manage organization settings.

• Manage teams and members across the organization.

• Manage administrative access.

• Manage organization-level controls and settings.

• Create projects and pages.

Project Permissions  

Project permissions control what someone can do within a specific project.

When you add someone to a project, you can assign one of three permissions:

• Editor — Can view and edit designs within the project.

• Commenter — Can view designs and add comments, but cannot edit them.

• Viewer — Can view designs, but cannot edit or comment.

Permissions are assigned separately for each project. This means the same person can be an Editor in one project, a Commenter in another, and a Viewer in another.

How Roles and Permissions Work Together  

Team roles and project permissions serve different purposes.

A team role determines what a person can manage at the team or organization level. A project permission determines what they can do within a particular project.

For example, a Member can be added to a project as an Editor without being made an Admin.

Who Can Create Projects?  

All Members, Admins, and Super Admins can create projects and pages in Nila. You don't need an administrative role to start creating.

Admin and Super Admin roles provide additional management capabilities, while project permissions control access to individual projects.
